Field Trip Cancelled
The Field Trip to Castle in the Clouds, Moultonborough, NH, on June 18, 2018, has been cancelled due to insufficient sign-ups. An e-mail has been sent to all on our e-mail list. Also, those who had signed up will be called/contacted re: refund.

York County Senior College Scholarships Awarded
Each Spring York County Senior College awards two $500 scholarships to students who attend classes at University College/Saco, and two $500 scholarships to students at Sanford Community Adult Education (SCAE) /Springvale.  The following award winners were announced in May 2018. Each were awarded a $500 scholarship from York County Senior College. Our scholarship page has details.

Matthew Leach and Kymberli Leng
Matthew is an Applied Science major with a minor in Psychology. He has volunteered for the York County Juvenile Fire Safety & Intervention Collaborative and the Alfred Fire & Rescue Fire Prevention program. Matthew is a Lt. for the Biddeford Fire Department. He is seeking an education to learn how to help first responders cope with stressors and create prevention programs to deal with the cumulative stress experienced in the first responder field. He is pictured above with Dan Philbrick, Director of the Saco Center, Jane Carlson, Chairperson of YCSC, and council member Al Shinkel.

Kymberli is working towards her Associate’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on management. She has previously worked with the homeless and the substance abuse population to help them find and maintain housing. She hopes to use her degree to advance at her position at IDEXX or possibly even owning and managing her own business someday. She is pictured above with Dan Philbrick, Director of the Saco Center, Jane Carlson, Chairperson of YCSC, and council member Al Shinkel.

Announcing Spring 2018 Courses
Classes begin the week of March 26 and we are accepting registrations now. You'll find the details here.
Policy on course cancellations: class and event cancellation notices will be announced on local radio and television stations, followed up by e-mail messages to each person on our mailing list–an added inducement for each member to include and email address when registering. (Email addresses are used exclusively by YCSC and is not sold or otherwise shared.)

Should classes be canceled on account of weather, notice will be given on WMTV (Ch. 8), WCSH (Ch. 6), and WGME (Ch. 13). A message may also be heard on YCSC answering machine (282-4030).

Gary Sullivan Memorial Lecture Series Announced
The winter 2018 lecture series features a diverse mix of morning and afternoon talks along with coffee-and-pastry, registration, social (9-9:30 a.m.) and a delicious lunch (11:30-12:30 p.m.).

All lectures are held at Denis Hall on the campus of The Brothers of Christian Instruction, 133 Shaker Hill Road, Alfred, ME (off Rt. 202). Plenty of free parking is available.

Total cost for each day's program: ($20 members/ $25 non-members). Call our administrative office at (207) 282-4030 for reservations. Space is limited. (No confirmation will be made.) The fee is payable at the door—cash or check—payable to York County Shelter Program. These lectures are sponsored by York County Senior College and are open to the public. (Membership in Senior College is not required for these lectures.)
