Volunteers Organize, Administer, and Teach Classes
York County Senior College is an entirely voluntary organization, administered by volunteers, classes taught by volunteers, lectures arranged by volunteers, new members recruited by volunteers and programs promoted by volunteers. Seniors, especially those in retirement seeking an outlet, can readily find a niche in YCSC. Interested? Just give us a call at 282-4030, and, yes, a volunteer will return your call.
There are a variety of opportunities available to those interested in getting involved in a very worthwhile organization. A governing council includes 4 officers among its members, and all members wear more than one hat, voluntarily!
Our committees (and their sub-committees) and others as may be needed from time to time include:
- Curriculum
- Public Relations
- Communications
- Lecture Series
- Website
- Field Trip
- Scholarship
- Annual Luncheon
The Council meets monthly on the 2nd Monday at the University of Maine at Augusta Saco Center, 4 Scamman St., Ste. #18, Saco, ME 04072, and always welcomes ideas for classes, speakers, instructors, and governance. Committees meet periodically as needed and arranged by Committee Chair and committee members.
We could not accomplish all we do and keep things running smoothly without the support from the staff at the Saco Center and invaluable help from its director Daniel Philbrick.
