August 29, 2024: YCSC Announces Fall 2024 Courses

Of special interest are "Book Talk" with Arlene Jackson and "Plein Air" with Pat Wood. Fall courses include a variety of ZOOM, Onsite In-Person, and Outdoor Courses including "The Geography of Groceries"; "Introduction to Meditation"; & "The Journey from Climate Doom to Active Hope".

Book Talk will meet on Zoom on the second Wednesday of each month at 10am from September 11, 2024 to June 10, 2025. Each month a book will be discussed and author reviewed, led by the instructor. The books are from various genres and should all stimulate interesting discussion. The list of books that will be read is on our registration page.
First class is scheduled Wednesday, September 11th at 10am.

Plein Air students will meet at various outdoor locations to paint in the fast drying media of their choice.  The various outdoor locations will be determined at each class.  The first class will meet at Laurel Hill Cemetary, Saco, ME.  Venues and materials will be discussed with each student by phone prior to the first class. First class scheduled September 12th from 9:30am to 12pm.

January 10, 2024: Garry Sullivan Lecture Series Announed
YCSC Gary Sullivan Lecture Series 2024 is scheduled to begin Wednesday, January 10 via ZOOM. The seven lectures, covering 8 eclectic topics in January, February, and March at varying times of day. Again, the registration fee is held to $25 for the entire series!

January 9, 2024: Open Art Studio with Pat Scammon
Bring your own art supplies (but no soft pastels nor oil paints) to this 10 week series of classes and join others in this creative art group. Space limitations allow for 8 participants – only 1 spot left as of today! While there is no formal instruction, there is much sharing of ideas, artistic expertise, camaraderie, and fun. Registration is $25.

September 1, 2023: Fall Semester Courses Annnounced
York County Senior College (YCSC) is pleased to announce our Fall 2023 course line-up. Course registrations open on Friday, September 1, 2023, and classes are scheduled to begin the week of September 25th.  Courses will be presented online via Zoom, some in-person, and outdoor.  Registration is done using CourseStorm, our totally online catalog & registration platform, and is accessed through our CourseStorm link, or our website link, which are listed below.  Find a summary listing of our Fall 2023 courses here. May 14, 2023: Annual Meeting Announced
Senior Collge announces that its 2023 Annual Meeting and Luncheon will be held at Duffy's Tavern & Grill, 168 Saco Ave., Old Orchard Beach, ME on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 11:30 AM. Included are YCSC business meeting, lunch, music, raffle, camaraderie! Free to our current year Members and Instructors.  Detailed registration information for members and their guests. Register promptly. Reservation deadline is Monday morning, June 5th

March 20, 2023: Spring Semester Courses Announced
Spring classes are scheduled to begin the first week of April and include a mixture of Online Zoom classes, in-person classes and outdoor classes in Saco and Sanford. August 22, 2022: An Invitation To Meet & Greet With YCSC is extended to all YCSC volunteers and prospective volunteers! Thursday, September 8, 2022 4:00 – 6:00 PM. To our dedicated Instructors, Council and Committee members, a chance to say hello and catch up. Read more here.

August 16, 2022: The 2022-23 Book Talk Class Reading List was posted on the website today. This will be a year long class of 10 sessions and will be presented via ZOOM on the meeting the second Wednesday of each month - September through June. When registration opens, register via COURSESTORM.

May 24, 2022: Annual Meeting & Luncheon, Thursday, June 16, 2022, 11:45 AM at the OAK STREET BISTRO, 3 Oak Street, Alfred, ME 04002. Included are YCSC business meeting, lunch, music, raffle, camaraderie! Free to our current year Members and Instructors. Sorry, non-member guests cannot be accommodated. March 20, 2022

Spring Semester Courses Announced
All registrants for YCSC in-person classes (indoors or outdoors) must be prepared on their first day of class to present their Covid vaccination ID card confirming all shots and boosters, to wear masks and to submit signed Assumption of Risk form. Those not fully vaccinated should not plan on attending in-person classes. You'll find a complete of Spring classes and a link to the CourseStorm Online registration site here.

June 14, 2021 YCSC Annual Meeting

YCSC Annual Meeting
87 attendees (members and instructors) enjoyed a Flag Day luncheon and participated in the YCSC Annual Meeting at Wishing Pond Events in Dayton. Officers and Council Members were elected for the coming year.

 

Should classes be canceled on account of weather, notice will be given on WMTV (Ch. 8), WCSH (Ch. 6), and WGME (Ch. 13). A message may also be heard on YCSC answering machine (282-4030).
