It's never too late to apply for a scholarship, even for an upcoming senior year of college.

YCSC Scholarship Award Program

Each Spring York County Senior College awards two $1000 scholarships to students who attend classes at UMA's Saco Center and two $500 scholarships to students at Sanford Community Adult Education (SCAE) /Springvale.  The following award winners were announced in June 2023. Each were awarded a $500 scholarship from York County Senior College.

2023 University of Maine Augusta/Saco Center Scholarship Winners: Joyce Jiang and Erica Lowell LaChance.

The SCAE winners are:  Gabriella Dyer, Corey Lyon, Julianna Willey, and Shannon Kendall.  (There are 4 because no award was given in 2022.)

UMA Saco scholarship applicant criteria:

  • Have completed at least two semesters in the University of Maine System

  • Have a passing grade in all courses taken in the last two semesters

  • Submit a copy of their transcript for the last two semesters

  • Be registered for at least 6 credits during the semester(s) the scholarship is received

  • Complete the attached form and submit the form along with required essay and transcript copy

The Scholarship Committee reviews all applications and will award the scholarship based on the information gathered through the application and other required material.

Scholarship recipients will be notified via U.S Mail if they are awarded and will be presented the scholarship at the Center on a date to be determined by the scholarship committee. The scholarship will become part of their financial aid package from the University of Maine at Augusta. Scholarship recipients may also be invited to receive recognition at the York County Senior College Annual Luncheon held in June.

Sanford Community Adult Education (SCAE) scholarship applicant criteria: Scholarships are used to recognize outstanding adult learners - who have overcome obstacles in furthering their education; who serve as role models for other students; who possess defined short and long term educational goals. Scholarships are paid directly to the post-secondary institution for tuition, books, fees and education related expenses.

Scholarship application form is available at SCAE office. It must be completed and returned to the SCAE office by the required early June date.
